The Mary G McGeown Regional Nephrology Unit at the Belfast City Hospital provides regional renalservices to all of N Ireland and has strong links with the Sub RegionalUnits in Antrim, Newry,Omagh and Dundonald. It is also the TransplantCentre for N.Ireland where over 1300 transplants have taken place at anannual average of 50. The Unit has 43 haemodialysis stations, a PD training ward, a recently refurbished inpatient ward (30 beds,)an acute dialysis unit and a patient education facility. There are 7 consultant nephrologists(2 university joint appointments), 2 consultant transplant/renal failure surgeons, one staff grade physiciansand 5 nephrology SpRs, who rotate with the sub-regional units.
